The rules in detail

Lotto 6/45 is run by Donghaeng Lottery in South Korea. A player picks 6 different numbers from 1 to 45, and one game costs 1,000 won.

Each draw takes a seventh number, the Bonus Number, from the same 45. Players do not choose it. It comes into play for 2nd prize only, which is 5 matches plus the Bonus Number. 1st prize needs all 6 numbers, and 3rd prize is 5 matches.

The draw is held on Saturdays at 8:35 pm Korea time, and sales close at 8 pm. 4th prize (4 matches) pays 50,000 won and 5th prize (3 matches) pays 5,000 won, while the 1st to 3rd prize amounts differ from one draw to the next. This site counts the current rules from the draw of 7 December 2002.
